Before the UNCON:
Publicity: Blog, Tweet, Facebook the UNCON. Tell people that you plan on attending, and let them know why. Refer them back to this site, where they can find information about how they can be a part of the action.
Blogging/Tweeting for the UNCON: The Book Blog UNCON blog and Twitter handle are being handled by Cassandra from Indie Reader Houston, but she’ll be happy to have some help. To keep the blog from getting stale, we’d love to have at least one new post a week. We’d also like some cleverly worded Tweets to send out now and then. If you have a blog post (idea or finished product) or a few minutes to write some tweets, then email them to bookblogUNCON [at] gmail [dot] com. We’d appreciate it if you’d tweet and retweet the UNCON blog stuff, too.
Registration: For now, this is a simple Google spreadsheet, and that seems to be working. We’ll let you know if something comes up.
Materials: We will need a few things in terms of office-supplies:
- Easels and/or 3m Post-it Pads (Taken care of thanks to an accidental donation by an unnamed textbook publisher. They were left over from a workshop that I attended – CN)
- Name Tags (Would love to have them done ahead of time, so printed ones with badge holders would be great. Stickers will work too, though. I can take care of printing. – CN)
- Various and assorted writing implements (including markers for the Post-it Pads)
At the UNCON:
Set-up and Registration: Are you a morning person? If you’re not, maybe you’re better suited for the clean-up crew
Local Lunch Guides: People to show all the out-of-towners where to grab a quick, but tasty, bite for lunch.
Documentarians: Good with a camera? We’d love to have pictures – even video – from the event to share with others who cannot be there.
Clean-up: This is probably not for those of you who will be in a hurry to rush off to the Buzz Panels at the Javits. If you’re okay with missing them, or even getting there a bit late, then we’d love to have some help with clean-up.
After the UNCON:
This is still to be determined. We do hope to post links, photos, and files that come from the UNCON here for others to access. We will also post any wrap-up posts that people would like to contribute to the blog. We’ll let you know if anything else comes up.
If you’re interested in lending a helping hand or have ideas about how you can contribute in other ways that are not listed here, please send us an email at bookblogUNCON [at] gmail [dot] com
